Dallas: what if the hit 80s show had been a K-drama?

Have you ever wondered what the classic American TV show “Dallas” would have been like if it were a Korean drama? Well, wonder no more! And guess, what! With it’s glamorous characters and family and corporate infighting, it we’re confident it would have made a k-drama ratings smash! So grab your popcorn and get ready for the drama to unfold!

First off, let’s start with the main character: Jang Ewing. He’s the rich and handsome heir to the Jang family fortune, but he’s got a dark side too. Think of him as a cross between Lee Min Ho’s Gu Jun-pyo in “Boys Over Flowers” and Song Joong Ki’s Yoo Si-jin in “Descendants of the Sun.”

Jang’s rival is none other than Kim Barnes. She’s just as wealthy as Jang, but she’s more of a femme fatale. Her beauty and cunning ways are reminiscent of Kim Tae-ri’s character in “Mr. Sunshine.”

Of course, there’s a love triangle between Jang, Kim, and Jang’s sweet and innocent childhood friend, Park Pamela. She’s played by the lovely and talented Park Shin-hye, known for her roles in “The Heirs” and “Doctors.” Pamela is torn between her loyalty to Jang and her growing feelings for Kim.

But that’s not all! There’s also Jang’s conniving younger brother, Jang Bobby. He’s jealous of Jang’s wealth and position, and will do anything to take his place. Bobby is played by the handsome and talented Woo Do-hwan, known for his roles in “The King: Eternal Monarch” and “Save Me.”

And let’s not forget about the matriarch of the Jang family, Jang Miss Ellie. She’s a powerful and respected businesswoman, but she’s got a soft spot for her wayward son, Jang J.R. J.R. is the black sheep of the family, always getting into trouble and causing drama. He’s played by the charismatic and brooding Lee Joon-gi, known for his roles in “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” and “Flower of Evil.”

The main plot of the K-drama version of “Dallas” revolves around the Jang family’s oil business and the power struggles between the various members. There’s betrayal, revenge, and unexpected twists around every corner. And of course, there’s plenty of steamy romance and heart-wrenching drama.

So there you have it, ladies – the K-drama version of “Dallas”! We’re sure it would have been a hit with Korean audiences back in the 80s. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll see a Korean remake of this classic American show. Until then, we’ll just have to imagine what could have been.
